Description
Are you interested in exploring the different meanings of equality throughout the world and learning how the law of different countries and regions protect - or fail to protect - this right?
Join our Multi-University Course on Comparative Equality Law, a global classroom co-hosted by FAU, UC-Berkeley, Stockholm University, the University of Portsmouth, and others. This course offers a unique opportunity to learn from leading scholars in the field and take part in engaging debates with peers from around the world.
Through a mixture of lectures and debates, students are invited to collaboratively analyse contemporary challenges to equality and non-discrimination. We will explore how different societies confront discrimination-related injustices—including those based on race, gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity—and the diverse legal responses developed to address them.
Through a comparative lens, students will examine both foundational theories and real-world cases from domestic, regional, and international courts.
Requirements necessary for participation
Open to FAU students and researchers who are interested in law and human rights. Bachelor’s and Master’s students, PhD researchers, and FAU staff are welcome to join. No prior knowledge is required—only an interest in the topics and willingness to participate actively.
Registration
As spots are limited, early registration is encouraged. For the "Comparative Equality and Non-Discrimination Law" course, due to coordination with partner universities, registration by 15 September is particularly recommended. Those who are interested in joining the course can email Dr Garcia Maia: taina.g.maia@fau.de or register directly via StudOn here.
