FAU Human Rights Talks on “Artificial Intelligence: Human Rights Chance or Challenge?” – FAU Students in Dialogue with Practitioners

Datum: 9. Juni 2024Zeit: 9:30 – 15:00Ort: Findelgasse, Nuremberg Room 0.015

The use of AI represents both an opportunity and a challenge for human rights enforcement. Its ability to analyse vast amounts of data can expedite investigations and enhance access to justice, potentially streamlining proceedings and ensuring fair outcomes. However, concerns persist regarding AI's potential biases, transparency issues, and the need to balance efficiency with safeguarding human rights, highlighting the necessity for careful implementation and oversight in human rights proceedings. FAU students will discuss these issues with representatives of the three regional human rights courts, namely Justice Dominic Denis Adjei, member of the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights, Judge Verónica Gómez, member of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, as well as Judge Tim Eicke, member of the European Court of Human Rights, in order to explore common challenges and regional particularities.
